Year 7 & 8's Wellington Trip

On November 11th to November the 15th, the year 7 & 8’s went to Wellington for the week. It was so exciting and boring because we had to sit in the car for about three hours while driving to Auckland Airport. Once we got to the Airport we waited for a while for our flight. Eventually the flight was ready. I was so nervous because I had never been on a plane before. We got there in about an hour and it felt like 20 minutes. Once we got to the Marae we had a powhiri and then settled down a bit. On Tuesday we went to Mount Victoria and it has an amazing view. Later we went to Te Papa Museum. It was so amazing as well because we got to see the Gallipoli sculptures made by the Weta Workshop. The sculptures were so realistic because of the tears, facial expressions and blood.  After we went to Te Papa we went to the zoo which was awesome. We saw some Red Pandas, Kangaroos, Otters, Monkeys, Lions, Dingos and much more. On Wednesday we went to the Beehive which was bigger than I thought. We went next door to Parliament House which is where all the reporters go to get answers about the law, but they can only go in one room. We went to the debating chamber which was huge. We went around Parliament which was amazing and fascinating. Afterwards we went to the National Library to see the real Treaty of Waitangi. We didn’t see the real treaty but we did see the real Declaration of Independence of New Zealand which was pretty cool. Next we went to the Cable Car which was awesome because in the tunnels there were so many Fairy Lights. Next we went to the Cable Car Museum to learn more about the old Cable Car and how it used to work. That night we got told that the real Treaty of Waitangi is going to be showed. We agreed to go back to the library. On Thursday we went back to the National Library to see the real Treaty of Waitangi. We are so lucky that we go to see the real treaty. Next we went to the Westpac Stadium. Inside we saw photos of famous celebrities who been at Westpac Stadium, such as Sting from the band The Police, Ozzy Osbourne, Robbie Williams, Angus Young of AC/DC, Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones, Elton John and David Bowie. We went to see the field and it was huge. Afterwards we went to Weta Workshop which was awesome because the props and sculptures looked really realistic. We saw props from The Hobbit and Lord of The Rings, District 09, Thunderbirds are go and more. After we went to  Weta Workshop we went to Capital E to make a news report (not really). I played as the presenter. I was so nervous because I have never been in a TV studio. The news production was Eye on the Hive because the whole news report was all about Jacinda Ardern banning the internet. Later that night we went to Zealandia. It was really fun but we didn’t see any Kiwi’s, but we were able to hear the Kiwi and see Tuatara. On Friday we went back to Auckland which we missed our first flight so we had to wait for about four hours for our second flight. As soon as we got back to Auckland we went straight back to Paihia. But we also got McDonald’s which we all enjoyed. What I enjoyed was going to Te Papa Museum because the Gallipoli sculptures really set the mood of WW1. What I could do better is listen to the teachers because I won’t know what to do.
Thanks Mrs Lindsay for taking us to Wellington.

Paihia School Duffy Play

At Paihia School, we went to our whare to see a Duffy Theatre play organised by the Duffy company. This play was about Magic Bricks and if you don’t know how the story goes then here's how it goes. Duffy goes to see his cousin who is playing Magic Bricks on a playstation, their Nan had glasses which Duffy puts on and gets sucked into the game by dancing to the “funny” dance that she did. Duffy had 30 minutes to get out of the game or he would be pixelated. That’s some of the story, if you want to see the whole story well then you might have to wait until the Duffy theatre comes to your school. What I enjoyed was watching the show and being lucky enough to be a volunteer for the show.
