The Purpose of a Quality Blog Post

In Te Ngahere, we have been learning about a how to do a quality blog post. We all learnt what we should put in our blog post. There are 6 things you should add in your blog post, they are the title, introduction, a DLO, a reflection, sources and a question. We all explained these steps in our own words and what these steps mean in a quality blog post and why we use these steps. This was helpful for me because know I know what to put in my blog post. I will use this when I am posting to help me what I’m learning. What I enjoyed was making the DLO because now I know what to put on my blog post when I’m posting.
Thanks for reading my blog post.
Here is my DLO

Making Hummus

In Te Ngahere, we went to our school Whare Kai and made some hummus with Whaea Gina. This was our last session with Whaea Gina this term about healthy eating and drinking. We each had lots of ingredients to make the taste of the hummus better, like a lemon, chickpeas, salt, pepper and paprika. Some of us wanted the hummus to be spicy but we didn’t have that much spice but it was spicy. We all ate the hummus with some crackers and carrots, my opinion of the hummus was that the carrots made the hummus more tastier, which made it delicious. What I enjoyed was eating the hummus with the carrots because it was so good.
If you want to know how to make homemade hummus then here are the steps.
1. Open the chickpeas can and get some of the juice out.
2. Then pour the rest of the chickpeas in a blender.
3. Put in a tablespoon of Peanut Butter in the blender.
4. Put in some salt and pepper and a bit of paprika in the blender.
5. Squish a lemon for some flavor.
6. Blende the ingredients together.

Paihia School Duffy Assembly 2019

At Paihia School, we had our Duffy Assembly. Rebecca Brothers came in and talked about what she does and what reading means for her. Rebecca talked about what she did at the Olympics, what she did as a police officer and what she does in her own time. Rebecca Brothers also talked to us how reading helps her and how it helps her family. The Duffy assembly was fun but a bit boring for some of us because we had to sing the Duffy song. All the classes each chose a book that we were interested in and got our books after the assembly. I chose Tom Gate’s ‘What Monster?’ and ‘Mortal Engines: Infernal Devices.’ What I enjoyed was getting my books after the assembly because I wanted to read all of them..
Here are some photos and the Duffy Song.

Reusing Images on the internet

In Te Ngahere, we have been learning about reusing images from the internet because most people who get images on the internet don’t give credit to the person who took the photo or made it. (If it was a drawing) We each had a slideshow and we had some sets of images we had to find on explore. Explore is on tools in Google Slides, Docs and Drawings. It allows you to use the images that are on explore. At the bottom at the image that you are choosing, it should say it is free to use. We had to find images that are something green, a school, your favourite food and more. We then had to use our camera to take photos of ourselves, something blue, your friends and someone that is happy. After we had to use our camera we went to unsplash to find images like a dog, friends, school, someone that is happy, a sunset, a cave and something blue. After we found the images we went to Sumo Paint or Google Drawings to draw something of our own. I used Sumo Paint a drew a picture of my own, I called him climate change. If you want to use free images on the internet search up something you want, go on images, click on the tools button, click on useable rights and click labeled for non-commercial use. That should show you free images. I enjoyed learning this because I now know what images I can use on the internet and images I can not use on the internet. What I enjoyed was making a drawing of my own because I got to use my imagination.
Unfortunately I haven’t finished my DLO yet but here is a picture of my drawing.

Waikare Interschool Cross Country

In Te Ngahere, some of us went to the InterSchool Cross Country. It was exciting for me because I haven’t been to interschool cross country before. People who have won our school cross country went to Waikare to run again but we were racing schools like KawaKawa School, Opua School, Moerewa School and other schools. I got there by my friend’s car and got back in another friend’s car and on the way back we had some treats. The course was like the one in the Bledisloe Domain except we had to do 2 laps and it was boring. I knew people from Kawakawa and Moerewa School because some of them I have meet before and some of them are my cousins.

We each ran in our age groups but it was a little bit different. The 12 and 13 year olds ran after the 5 year olds, the 11 year olds ran after the 6 year olds and more age groups mix ups.. When we got there it was raining and stormy that some kids got very wet including me. When it was my race I wasn’t nervous or anything. I was shocked how many 11 year olds I had to race because some of them were faster than me. When I finished the race I was 11th place, just one more person then I would have been 10th place. But I was happy I got 11th place because I tried my best and never gave up. What I enjoyed was running the course because I wanted to see what place I would get. Next time I am running I should breathe more because I am losing energy and air before I have finished the race then when I have more breathe, then I can sprint all the way to the finish line.

Whaea Gina's Energise

In Te Ngahere, we have been learning about healthy drinks and foods. Whaea Gina came in and talked to us about what we should put  in our body’s and what shouldn’t be in our body’s. We talked about how much sugar there was in bad drinks like energy drinks and fizzy’s. We also talked about what drinks are good and what drinks we should have everyday, what we should have sometimes and drinks we should not drink everyday. For example, milk is a drink that we should drink everyday along with water, powerade is a drink we should drink once or twice a week and when your sick and when you need energy in a sports game and fizzy drinks and energy drinks we shouldn’t drink everyday because of the high amount of sugar that can cause a bad reaction and diabetes. What I enjoyed was seeing what was good and bad for your health because I haven’t been drinking fizzy drinks for nearly 2 months.

Paihia School Cross Country

In Te Ngahere, we had our school cross country at the Bledisloe Domain. It was so exciting for me because I wanted to see if I’ve done well enough. I didn’t go to cross country last year but if I did go, then I would have done well. We all had to run in our age groups, that means the 11 year olds had to run together, boys and girls run separately. When it was the 10 year olds turn to run I had butterflies in my stomach and I thought to myself, will I run it or not. It was the 11 year olds turn and it was different because there wasn’t enough 11 year olds so we ran with the 12 and 13 year olds. The teacher said ready, set, go then we all sprinted it. I don’t know what place I came but at least I was proud of myself. What I enjoyed was running the course because I improved my running skills since 2017. What I could do better next time is to breath more when I’m tired because I need more energy to cross the finish line.
