Techology and Beeswax Wraps

In Te Ngahere the year 7's and 8's went to Technology at Moerewa Primary. The Year 7's did pasta and beeswax wraps and the year 8's did woodworks. The year 7's beeswax wraps were awesome because we can not use plastic anymore instead we have beeswax wraps. What I think I did well was making the beeswax wraps just in time because if I got it finish after we had to go then we would not be using the beeswax wraps, what I think I need to work on is not waste my time on getting the colors I need for my drawing because it can waste time for my class.
Also these beeswax wraps were proudly made by kids of Paihia School.

The Great Marble Challenge

In Te Ngahere we have done a great marble challenge, the great marble challenge is a challenge that my class do for science. What we had to do was to built our best ramp for the competition, make sure it reach up to 110 cm (1.1 m) and do the instructions for the people who is building our ramp. It was really fun testing the ramps that we made. What I think my group did well was building the ramp as a team because we don’t really get along with each other but we still did it and made it till the competition day, what I think my group can do better is make my group instructions better and understanding because some instructions didn't make sense and wasn’t understandable because we didn’t tell the people who making our ramp where to rule the ramp and what angle it should be.
Here is my reflection and some photos.

Kupe

In Te Ngahere we have been doing a Panui activity about 4 explorers called Kupe, Nukutawhiti, James Cook and Abel Tasman. They are the most well known people to come to New Zealand. My group did Kupe because he was the first Polynesian to come to New Zealand. Kupe came across New Zealand after attacking Te Wheke-A-Muturangi that lead him to New Zealand. He was also a great navigator to the Polynesians because he knows where he's going when he is hunting and fishing, and also he got his own statue. What I enjoyed was researching the information of Kupe getting to New Zealand and why, because finding an island in the middle of the ocean is tough. What I need to work on is to not get distracted by other people because it can get me nowhere when my learning.

Technology

In Te Ngahere the year 7 and 8’s went back to Moerewa School to do technology but this time the year 8’s went to the workshop with Mr. E and the year 7’s went to do some cooking with Whaea Dot. In the workshop the 8’s get to make anything of their choice while the year 7’s were cooking a delicious pizza. We got to put anything on it like tomato, bacon, pineapple, tomato pasta sauce, spinach and other toppings you sometimes put on pizza. What I enjoyed was making and tasting the pizza because I felt like the pizza was well cooked and good with the toppings on it. What I would do next time would add more toppings on it to make it look healthy and good for the people who is tasting it.

Here are some Photos.

Pepeha

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about our pepeha. For some people who don’t know what a pepeha is, a pepeha is the story of your life and going back to your ancestors and how they got here. Other people don’t have the same pepeha, (unless they are in the same family) because it doesn't relate to who you are and how your family got to New Zealand. What I did well with my pepeha is that I got to know where my family came from because my Mum’s side came from Britain.
Here is my Pepeha
