In Te Ngahere, some of us went to the InterSchool Cross Country. It was exciting for me because I haven’t been to interschool cross country before. People who have won our school cross country went to Waikare to run again but we were racing schools like KawaKawa School, Opua School, Moerewa School and other schools. I got there by my friend’s car and got back in another friend’s car and on the way back we had some treats. The course was like the one in the Bledisloe Domain except we had to do 2 laps and it was boring. I knew people from Kawakawa and Moerewa School because some of them I have meet before and some of them are my cousins.
We each ran in our age groups but it was a little bit different. The 12 and 13 year olds ran after the 5 year olds, the 11 year olds ran after the 6 year olds and more age groups mix ups.. When we got there it was raining and stormy that some kids got very wet including me. When it was my race I wasn’t nervous or anything. I was shocked how many 11 year olds I had to race because some of them were faster than me. When I finished the race I was 11th place, just one more person then I would have been 10th place. But I was happy I got 11th place because I tried my best and never gave up. What I enjoyed was running the course because I wanted to see what place I would get. Next time I am running I should breathe more because I am losing energy and air before I have finished the race then when I have more breathe, then I can sprint all the way to the finish line.
